Humanity, Alive and Well, by Sankar Chatterjee

On a sizzling Sunday, Barry was biking along Schuylkill River near Philadelphia. He noticed two gentlemen, one lying with eyes shut and other overlooking him. He braked, approached the pair and recognized the kneeling man: John Blake, a die-hard anti-immigrant right-winger supporting current dictator. Barry then remembered the lying figure, a seasonal Mexican mushroom-picker who sought help from Barry’s law-farm for his work-permit. Speaking in Spanish, Barry gathered that the gentleman got dehydrated from his long walk in the sun. Learning the fact, John immediately unbuckled his expensive designer water-bottle to leave behind for the gentleman.

“Humanity prevails!” murmured Barry.
