I Did a Good Turn, by Johann Lux

I hired Suzie to manage the office. She had a sweet smile, and was good with numbers.

Three months into the job, I gave Suzie a pay raise and free lunch. Over pizza, she told me she had visa problems; her fiancé Raul over stayed his and maxed out her credit cards.

Suzie held a revolver, Raul a club and me in the middle – I caught them trying to rob the office safe.

Raul threatened to bash my head. Suzie panicked. I turned and fell to the floor. The revolver discharged. The gaping hole in Raul’s chest made Suzie faint.
