Their priests say he proclaimed himself ‘King of the Jews’ … thus was a threat to the Empire.

“My Kingdom is not of this world,” he said.

“Then Rome has no case against you,” I said.

They showed the wretch to the mob who bayed for his crucifixion.

Well, I don’t have enough soldiers in Jerusalem to quell a revolt, so I called for water.

Washed my hands of it. Gave him over to the local justice.

Such barbarians, these Judeans!

Now he’s crucified and in his tomb; that’s the end of the matter.

Ha! ‘Not of this world.’
