Cat And Mouse, by Bobby Warner

(F.F.F. Website Story)

The mouse came from its hole and approached the cat. For years they had been mortal enemies; now the mouse was making peaceful overtures.

The mouse walked, apparently unafraid, right up to the cat and made a squeaking noise. The cat opened one eye and gazed questioningly at the mouse. The mouse approached closer still, held out its paw.

The cat sat up, shook itself, and stared at the mouse. Finally it extended it paw in friendship.

The mouse came closer, lunged forward and bit the cat’s paw, then made for its hole, making squeaking noises that sounded like laughter.
