G Word and B Word, by Roshanna Sidney Evans

“They called me the G word again.”
“When you had short hair, they called you the B word. At least, they have it right.”
“They still want to hurt me.”
“Don’t let them.”
“The sounds are in my ears. They’re already into my brain and into my veins. They blacken my blood. I feel mean.”
“Aw, sweetheart, you’ve got to toughen up.”
“They make Girl seem like a crime.”
“We get our feelings. They don’t.”
“Boys can’t feel anything?”
“Not supposed to. Otherwise, it’s the G word. Being human is tough, isn’t it?”
“How come people don’t like being human?”
