The Purse-Snatcher by Ann-Louise Truschel

He’d been mugging folks in the neighborhood for several months. Police cautioned neighbors not to walk alone at night.

But Mrs. Grey had a church meeting every Wednesday. No young whippersnapper was going to frighten her into staying home! She was on her way home when she was grabbed from behind and told to give up her purse.

Mrs. Grey swung around, hit him with her purse and screamed for help. When the squad arrived, the mugger was lying on the ground unconscious.

“What happened?” said the officer.

“I hit him with my purse.”

“What’s in your purse?”

“A brick.”
